From Homelessness to Recovery, and a Life of Renewed Hope

As she grabbed my hand, she turned away from the crowd, and with tears said, “I’m done with this life, I want off the streets!”

This is the cry of many women who have lived on the streets, bound by addictions and and endless cycle of destructive living.

There are more than 200 homeless women in the Daytona Beach area.

Since 2014 Ponce Church and many volunteers have served over 30,000 meals to the Homeless Community in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Pastor Nina Tidwell, has had many opportunities to mentor and pray with many of the Women, learn their names, give them hugs, and let them know they are loved. Pastor Nina’s passion grew from not only serving meals and providing clothing, to housing those who have taken the necessary steps toward recovery a Life of Renewed Hope with Jesus, His Love and Strength, toward an independent life free from homelessness and the addictions that accompany that lifestyle.

565,000 Homeless in the USA – 40% are WOMEN:

In 2015 studies estimated there are 565,000 Homeless in the USA on any given night – 40% are Women. Over 1 Million people experience Homelessness each year.

A friend who had experienced Homelessness, Sleeping in her car, recently shared her story with me:

“God bless all you and your family with all you are doing sister. So beautiful, and has touched my heart greatly.

I have been Homeless and in and out of domestic violence my whole life, so this is very close to my heart because of the many times I’ve thought: What will I do, disabled, beaten down, and then my husband dies?

When I spent nights in my car thinking, should I go home or not, and what next?

You are doing more than giving a roof and food, you’re giving JESUS and Hope!

Thank you for that!”

Tabitha’s House: From Homelessness to Family and a Life of Renewed Hope:

Pastor Nina and her family have had an ongoing desire to provide Housing for Adult Homeless Women, (James 1:27, Matthew 25:31-46)

Since providing meals for the homeless community, Pastor Nina developed a strong desire to not only provide a Home, but a Family, with opportunities they would not have in any other environment.

TABITHA’S HOUSE of Ponce Village – is a Christ-centered home, with a long-term solution, providing the spiritual resources (Mentorship) needed to help them on their journey, to a life of Renewed Hope, where each woman receives the same love and care as our Legacy Family; Legacy House for age out foster girls, and soon a ranch for age out foster boys.

At Tabitha’s House there is a live-in Woman of God to help mentor the women as they take the necessary steps to maintain sobriety with the help of Jesus Christ and the Strength of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Nina will be involved daily, with scheduled Bible studies, and Godly counsel.

Tabitha’s House is not a temporary shelter, but a Long-Term solution providing Safe Housing, Mentorship, Spiritual Counseling; a Life of Renewed Hope.
